Seven little emails pinged into my inbox yesterday informing me I had some new followers – very exciting. I’ve just spent a pleasant hour looking at the profiles of people who’ve looked at mine! The most interesting part of the process is discovering the blogs of new and new-ish authors, like me, who have self-published and are now trying to find their readers. I now have on my half term ‘to read’ list; ‘The Young Guardians: Genesis Spell’ by Grady P Brown, ‘Tissue of Lies’ by Carole Parkes and ‘Xoe’ by Sara Croethle. I’m going to be busy!
I think the real challenge for all indie authors is how to let the right market know that your book exists? Reviews seem a good way to go, I’m also searching for forums and facebook pages on topics or themes that match my novel (steampunk/time travel/fantasy adventure etc) where I’m trying to politely mention, ‘The lost Heirs’ without spamming or flooding the pages with annoying adverts. I’ll post about how I get on 🙂
In the meantime, if you have found this blog and have the time to read ‘The lost Heirs’ for me I would really appreciate a review on Amazon. I’m happy to gift the kindle edition for free (which I’m assured can be done via a little yellow button) in return for a review. Just email your details to amandacmoran@gmail.com and I’ll figure it out. x
Followed you too 🙂

I’d be happy to take a look at your book and give a review. Do you already have a copy of “Tissue of Lies”?

I don’t yet, Carole, I shall download it later today. It sounds fascinating. ‘The Lost Heirs’ is much simpler – children’s story – which crosses a few different genres. I hope you enjoy it.

So, I’ve discovered today that to get a copy of the book to someone I have to buy a £2.00 gift certificate from amazon which is then emailed to them. They can then use this to purchase the kindle edition. Are you happy for me to do this? and would I use your talktalk email address?
I have ‘Tissue of Lies’ now – it’s going to be a very busy half term!

Since you’ve already bought my book I’ve just bought yours, so no need to send the gift certificate. Like you I am already reading one book and have another to read before yours. I will have read it in a couple of weeks though, and i’ll let you know when I have. Please bear in mind there are a couple of errors.in my book (…,” She said) instead of (…,” she said). I am in the process of amending my book and that’s why it’s now 99p instead of £2.03 the original price. I hope you enjoy it regardless of this.

Oh thank you, that’s wonderful. I too have self-edited and I’m constantly spotting liitle errors, which is quite embarrasing as I’m an English teacher! I think I’m on the fourth edition now. So, I’ll forgive yours if you forgive mine 😊. I hope you enjoy it. Take care x

I love the fact you too keep re-editing. I think we all need to remember most Indie authors do all the work themselves. After many editing passes it’s easy tp become word and grammar blind. I know I just reached the point where I’d read and corrected enough. Now a year has passed and I’m happy to give it another edit. I know there aren’t that many mistakes but I would like there to be none. Perhaps we can e-mail each other with any errors we find? Fresh eyes are always better at spotting them. How do I get your e-mail address?

That’s a great idea, i had a terrible mistake in the very first page (glowering instead of glowing) that i must have read a thousand times and not spotted. My son saw it straight away! You can email me on: amandacmoran@gmail.com
I’ll send you any I spot too. X

I too know i have one on the first page, mine’s a “…”? Instead of “…?”. It’s amazing how you just don’t see these errors, isn’t it?

Thanks Carole, I’m about a quarter wat through ‘Tissue of Lies’ and finding it a compelling read! She’s just introduced John to the Pollards; I’m having to be very firm with myself not to skip on and try to work out the ending! Speak to you soon.

I’m really enjoying your book ‘The Lost Heirs: The first story of Eshla’. When you said it was a children’s story I thought I might not enjoy it, but it’s a bit like Harry Potter in
that it appeals to all age groups. Well done!
